Brandon Ruffin Named NSAA Men's Indoor Track Player-of-the-Week

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has announced its third edition of the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Tuesday.  Isaiah Craig of Waldorf (Iowa) was chosen to its Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while Brandon Ruffin of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected to Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Isaiah Craig – Waldorf (Iowa) – Freshman – Apple Valley, Minn. – Craig improved upon his own school records in both the triple jump and high jump at the Dennis Young Classic for Waldorf (Iowa).  He was second in the triple jump with a measurement of 12.66 meters (41 feet, 6.5 inches).  Craig was also second in the high jump, clearing the height of 6 feet, 4.75 inches.  He produced a personal best record in the long jump with, leaping a measurement of 6.34 meters (20 feet, 9.75 inches) for a fourth-place finish.

Brandon Ruffin – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Junior – Lancaster, Calif. – Ruffin's performance in the 400-meter dash leads the North Star in the event by over half a second for Dickinson State (N.D.).  He clocked a time of 51.04 seconds to finish second in the race at the Cobber Duals.  Ruffin also ran a key leg of the 4 x 400-meter relay team, which won the event with a time of 3 minutes, 27.64 seconds (marks the top relay time in the North Star). 

Looking Ahead
All six North Star Athletic Association conference members will be in action this weekend.  Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) are scheduled to compete in Moorhead, Minn. for the second straight weekend, participating in the Cobber Open Saturday.

Dakota State (S.D.) and Waldorf (Iowa) travel to Storm Lake, Iowa to compete in the Buena Vista Open on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Dickinson State (N.D.) heads to Gillette, Wyo. for the Birds & Bees Invitational.  Viterbo (Wis.) is scheduled to compete in the Bethel Gene Glader Classic in Arden Hills, Minn.
