BROOKINGS, SD- The Dickinson State Men's Track & Field team had a great showing at the SDSU Open on Saturday, highlighted by Jose Chorro qualifying for the NAIA National Indoor Meet in the 60 meter hurdles.
Jose Chorro hit NAIA A standard in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.30.
Jay Liggins hit NAIA B standard in the triple jump with 46 feet.
11 DSU Athletes recorded personal bests in the event. Sharlon Regales in the shot put at 40'2", Ty Malone in the weight throw at 47'1.75", Jay Liggins in the triple jump at 46'0", Jose Chorro in the 60m Hurdles at 8.30 and 200m with a time of 23.08.
Josh Reed in the 600m with a time of 1:23.38, Austin Stradley in the 600m with a time of 1:27.63, Cain Boschee in the 200m with a time of 22.98, Lewis Dobitz in the 200m with a time of 23.30, James smith in the 1000m with a time of 2:53.52, Trey Smollack in the mile with a time of 5:54.82 and in the 800m with a time of 2:14.32 and Isaac Reiss in the 5k with a time of 16:49.62.
Four DSU Athletes also recorded season best times. Jay Liggins in the long jump with a mark of 21'4.75", Tucker Beck in the 200m with a time of 23.71, Mason Frank in the 200m with a time of 23.97 and Eddie Meneses in the 5k with a time of 15:44.77. The DSU Men's 4x4 also had a season best time.
"We had a great showing over the weekend," said DSU Head Coach Chris Creal. "The team came in ready to compete with some of the best programs in the Midwest and our results showed. This meet also gave us a lot of confidence going into conference as the South Dakota State facility is where the North Star Indoor Championships will be held. From here, the goal is to prep ourselves for success at conference."
