MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has announced its fifth installment of the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor Tuesday. Tommy Sease of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected as Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while Seth Boomsma of Dakota State (S.D.) was chosen to Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Tommy Sease – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Bismarck, N.D. – Sease of Dickinson State (N.D.) was fourth on the first day with 2,381 points of the North Star Athletic Association Indoor Men's Multi-Events in Jamestown, N.D. He racked up a total of 1,302 points on the second day of conference multi-event meet, claiming the men's heptathlon with a total of 4,292 points. Sease's mark is currently 20th in the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Performance List.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Seth Boomsma – Dakota State (S.D.) – Senior – Crooks, S.D. – Boomsma finished second in both men's 60-meter dash prelims and finals for Dakota State (S.D.) at the NCAA Division I meet Iowa State Classic. He clocked a time of 6.82 seconds in the prelims, improving his time to a season-best time of 6.78 seconds to earn the runner-up honor. Boomsma defeated three runners from NCAA Division I schools Illinois along with North Carolina and South Dakota as well as Iowa Central Community College.
The North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships is set for Saturday in Brookings at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University. First event is slated to start at 9 a.m. This will be the athletes' last chance to set their qualifying marks for the upcoming NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which is held in Johnson City, Tenn. on March 3-5.
Viterbo (Wis.) currently leads the men's standing with 12 points, followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) with a second-place with 11 points. Waldorf (Iowa) is third with six points and Jamestown (N.D.) is fourth with two points after the completion of the NSAA Multi-Events in Jamestown, N.D. on Feb. 14.
