MADISON, S.D. – Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the second edition of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Men's Outdoor Track Players-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Tuesday. Jay Liggins was selected to Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while Reiss was named to Track Athlete-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Jay Liggins – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Freshman – Bismarck, N.D. – Liggins of Dickinson State (N.D.) won a pair of jumping titles at the Carroll College (Mont.) Open. He won the long jump after leaping a measurement of 6.59 meters (21 feet, 7.5 inches). Liggins won the triple jump title with a measurement of 13.81 meters (45 feet, 3.75 inches). His marks place him at the top of the NSAA conference for both events.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Isaac Reiss – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Shepherd, Mont. – Reiss of Dickinson State (N.D.) placed first out of 567 runners during his marathon debut in the All-American Marathon in Fayetteville, N.C. He ran a time of 2 hours, 49 minutes and 11 seconds, which is a national qualifying time for the event. Reiss' time also meets the qualifying standards for the 2017 Boston Marathon.
Viterbo (Wis.) is scheduled to compete in the Wisconsin Private College Championship on Saturday in Waukesha, Wis.
Also on Saturday, Dakota State (S.D.) makes their second trip to Sioux Falls, S.D. within six days as they compete in the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) Open. Dickinson State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) head to Bismarck, N.D. to compete in the Al Borke Open hosted by the University of Mary (N.D.).
Waldorf (Iowa) will be in Decorah, Iowa to participate in the Norse Relays on Saturday.
