MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its fifth edition of the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday. Dickinson State (N.D.) swept the weekly honor as Ty Malone received the Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor, while his teammate Jose Chorro was honored as Track Athelte-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Ty Malone – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Robertson, Wyo. – Malone won a pair of throwing events for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field conference meet in Brookings, S.D. on Feb. 18. He scored a total of 20 points in the conference meet. Malone won the shot put after tossing 14.60 meters (47 feet, 11 inches). He also captured the weight throw title after throwing 15.29 meters (50 feet, 2 inches).
North Star Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Jose Chorro – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Sal Salvador, El Salvador – Chorro scored its most points in the running events for Dickinson State (N.D.) at the North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field conference meet in Brookings, S.D. on Feb. 18. He won the 60-meter hurdles title with a time of 8.28 seconds. Chorro also captured the 60-meter dash runner-up title with a time of 7.10 seconds. He was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.88 seconds. He also ran the second leg of the winning 4 x 400-meter relay team for the Blue Hawks.
The NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championship meet will be held at the David E. Walker at Gentry Field in Johnson City, Tenn. The national meet kicks off on Thursday, March 2 and runs through Saturday, March 4.
