Ty Stanton named NSAA Field Athlete of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference announced its seventh edition of the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week honors Tuesday.  Ty Stanton of Dickinson State (N.D.) was selected as Field Athlete-of-the-Week.  Mark Moeller of Dakota State (S.D.) was named as Track Athlete-of-the-Week.  It was the third time this outdoor season that both Stanton and Moeller were selected to the weekly honors.

Ty Stanton – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Freshman – Jordan, Mont. – Stanton had a tremendous day for Dickinson State (N.D.) at their last chance home meet.  He earned a pair of jumping titles at the meet.  He won the long jump after leaping a distance of 7.37 meters (24 feet, 2.25 inches), moving him up to seventh in the NAIA.  Stanton added the triple jump title with a measurement of 14.57 meters (47 feet, 9.75 inches), which is currently 10th best in the nation.

Mark Moeller – Dakota State (S.D.) – Senior – Rosholt, S.D. – Moeller produced an automatic qualifying time for the NAIA Nationals in the men's 800-meter run for Dakota State (S.D.) at the 92nd Annual Howard Wood Dakota Relays.  He clocked a time of 1 minute, 52.47 seconds to earn a sixth-place finish in the race.  His time is currently 15th-best in the NAIA and the top time in the North Star conference.

2017 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Six North Star Athletic Association members – Dakota State (S.D.), Dickinson State (N.D.), Jamestown (N.D.), Valley City State (N.D.), Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) – will be competing in the two-day conference meet on Thursday and Friday.  Jamestown (N.D.) will be this year's host at Al Cassell Field.  This will be the last track meet for athletes to produce national qualifying marks for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, which will be held in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 25-27.
