Dickinson, ND-The Dickinson State University Track and Field team had a great overall performance at the NAIA National Championship. Ten student-athletes qualified to compete last week in the National Championship in Gulf Shores, AL. On the men's side, Paxton Miller, Tyler Quilling, Cain Boschee, Ernst Franssen, Jay Liggins and Cleet Wrzesinski all competed for the Blue Hawks. On the women's side, Alissa Wisher, Kadara, Marshall, Mackenzie Grubbs and Abby Houghton also qualified to represent Dickinson State at the National Championship.
Two of the University's athletes received the status of All-American. Jay Liggins earned All-American recognition after he hit 7.18 meters and finished fifth in the long jump. Cleet Wrzesinski, who is a freshman, also received All-American status in the decathlon with an overall score of 6,459 points. Wrzesinski had outstanding performances in the 100-meter dash, long jump, 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meters.
"We are super proud of our kids. Each one of them represented the university very well. We are looking forward to building our national roster for next year," stated Coach Shayne Wittkopp.
