MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) is proud to announce the seventh edition of the Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week honor Tuesday. Samantha VanHeuveln of Jamestown (N.D.) was selected as Women's Runner-of-the-Week, while Jeffrey Segovia of Dickinson Sate (N.D.) was named to Men's Runner-of-the-Week.
NSAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Samantha VanHeuveln – Jamestown (N.D.) – Senior – Danvers, Minn. – VanHeuveln led Jamestown (N.D.) to an eight-place finish in the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational, which featured a total of 145 runners in the 5K race. She clocked a time of 18 minutes, 52 seconds and was the top NSAA runner in the race.
NSAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Jeffrey Segovia – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Senior – Phoenix, Ariz. – Segovia led Dickinson State to a fifth-place overall individually in a field of 132 runners at the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational. He clocked a time of 26 minutes, 16 seconds in the 8K race. The Blue Hawks finished fourth out of ten teams, just 18 points behind the No. 10 nationally-ranked Morningside (Iowa).
Dakota State (S.D.) will be hosting the North Star Athletic Association conference meet on Saturday, Nov. 7. The meet will be held at the Madison Country Club, located on west side of Madison on highways 34 and 81. The women's 5K race begins at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 11:45 a.m.
