Dickinson State (N.D.) edges Waldorf (Iowa) for NSAA Men's Cross Country Conference title

MEN'S RESULTS

DICKINSON, N.D. - Dickinson State (N.D.) edged Waldorf (Iowa) 34-39 to claim the North Star Athletic Association Men's Cross Country conference title Saturday at Heart River Golf Course, hosted by Dickinson State.  It was the second straight year that the Blue Hawks had won the North Star conference title.

Dakota State (S.D.) finished third with 80 points, followed by Jamestown (N.D.) fourth with 120 points, Viterbo (Wis.) fifth with 125 points and Valley City State (N.D.) sixth with 134 points to round up the conference team standings.

Matthew Young of Jamestown won the NSAA individual title with a time of 26 minutes, 4 seconds.  It was the second straight year that Young won the North Star individual title, winning the 2015 NSAA individual title in Madison, S.D.

Dickinson State earned the team automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Cross Country Championships by St. Louis on Nov. 19.  Four NSAA indvidual runners will also run at the national meet.  They are Young and Nic Ganzeveld, Marquis Cox and Nathan Meiners of Waldorf.
