DICKINSON, ND- Dickinson State University Head Cross Country Coach, Ben Shroyer, is excited to announce the signing of Grant Kelly to the Men's Cross Country Team.
Grant is from Billings, Montana and will graduate from Shepherd High School this May. Grant plans to major in Business Management at Dickinson State University and is the son of Casey & Jessica Kelly.
"When I visited Dickinson State, I instantly felt welcomed and comfortable on campus and within the community. DSU has given me the opportunity to continue my passion for running," said Kelly.
Kelly was the 2016 Class B District Champion in the 3200m run and has received All-State Academic Honors. He is a 2x MHSA Class B State Cross Country Championships participant, finishing in 8th place overall in 2016. He finished 13th in the 3200m run at the 2016 MHSA Class B State Track & Field Meet.
Grant's personal records are: 3 mile (XC) - 16:45, 3200- 10:35, and 1600- 4:55.
"Grant is our second men's signee for the class of 2017," stated Shroyer. "I am excited to have him join our program and to see what he will accomplish for us over the next four years. Grant has been a leader for the Shepherd cross country program that was just restarted in 2015 after a 35-year hiatus. Grant participated in both state meets since the program restarted and he improved twenty-three spots at the state cross country meet this fall. I have enjoyed visiting with Grant on numerous occasions regarding his running and know he has a lot of talent that will blossom in the next four years. I am excited to get him on campus in August and watch him run!"
