DICKINSON, N.D. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2014 NAIA Softball All-Americans. Sophomore shortstop Alex Vargas was named an honorable mention for the 2014 season.
Vargas finished the season with a .453 batting average and seven homeruns. She recorded 59 RBIs, 13 doubles, and three triples. Vargas also finished with a team high .688 slugging percentage and claimed second with an on-base percentage of .484. A total of 77 hits gave the shortstop a team high in both hits and batting average.
Vargas ranked in the top 25 in the NAIA for runs batted in (59), total hits (77), and runs batted in per game (1.093).
Vargas played in all 54 games for the Blue Hawks during the 2014 season. She hails from Riverside, Calif. and is the daughter of Omar and Katie Munoz.
