Blue Hawks sweep Mayville

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks took two games by the score of 11-1 from Mayville State on Friday (Apr. 25).  Dickinson State is now 33-13 on the season.

In the first a wild pitch by Felicia Gonzales allowed Rebecca Lopez to score for the game's first run.

The Blue Hawks struck for five runs in the second inning.  Regan Lawrence doubled to leadoff. Janell LaRont then hit a homerun to center field on a 1-1 count.  Kailey Olcott scored on a single from Lopez.  Alex Vargas scored Lopez on a single and Lindsay Sullivan doubled home Vargas to give the Blue Hawks 6-0 lead. 

In the bottom of the third LaRont scored on a single from Vargas to take a 7-0 lead. 

The Blue Hawks mounted a four run inning in the bottom of fourth.  Vargas scored on a single by Sullivan.   Morgan Glowa scored on a single from Regan Lawrence.  Sam Manley and Lawrence scored on a single by Olcott.  The Blue Hawks held an 11-1 advantage. 

Lawrence went all five innings.  She allowed one run on three hits.  LaRont and Olcott both drove in a pair.  Vargas was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a run driven in.  LaRont had three hits.  Olcott roped a pair of hits. 

The Comets struck first on a single by Kat Neuman in game two. 

The Blue Hawks would quickly make up the deficit.  Sullivan roped a double to score Lopez and Yslas.  LaRont singled to score Sullivan and claim a 3-1 lead.

The Blue Hawks scored eight runs in the third inning.  Sullivan led off with a solo shot to center.  Tiffany Morgan singled to left field to score LaRont.  Lopez later singled to score Sam Bessey.  Monique Yslas reached on a bunt single and scored both McKenzie Kenobbe and Lopez.  Vargas then tripled to right field and scored Yslas.  Sullivan hit a sacrifice fly to score Vargas.  The Blue Hawks left the third with an 11-1 lead.

Morgan went four innings and recorded the win.  She allowed one run on five hits.  Sullivan had four runs driven in.  LaRont and Yslas each drove in a pair.  Lopez had two hits and two runs scored.  Yslas scored a pair of runs. 

The Blue Hawks will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 26) for their regular season finale against Mayville State.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
