Blue Hawks fall to San Marcos, 6-1

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Blue Hawks faced off against Cal State San Marcos on Monday (May 12) in the Opening Round of the NAIA World Series.  The first-seeded Cougars got the better of the fourth-seeded Blue Hawks, 6-1.

The Cougars opened the scoring in the second inning.  Tani Leseau drew a walk, before Mallory Campbell moved her over.  Olivia Lucatuorto then took an offering over the left field wall to give San Marcos a 3-0 advantage.

Dickinson State would get their only run in the bottom of the fourth.  Brianna Grayson reached on a walk and was driven home on a single by Kailey Olcott.  Regan Lawrence, who previously doubled, was thrown out at the plate. 

Leseau hit a homerun to center field in the sixth inning, bringing the score to 5-1.  Cal State San Marcos would add another run in the seventh to bring the advantage to five runs, 6-1.

Lawrence went the distance and allowed six runs on seven hits.  At the plate, Lawrence picked up a pair of doubles.  Olcott also notched a pair of hits and drove in a run.

The Blue Hawks will now play the College of Idaho on Tuesday (May 13) at 1 p.m.
