Coyotes bounce Blue Hawks from Opening Round, 7-2

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Blue Hawks' season has come to an end.  The College of Idaho scored in four straight innings to defeat the Blue Hawks 7-2.  Dickinson State ends their season with a record of 39-15.

College of Idaho scratched a trio of runs across the plate with two outs in the top of the fourth inning, when McKensie Stanton pushed across Skinner for the game's first run.  Julia Henrie then tripled home Stanton, before scoring on a Paige Gabiola's single.

In the fifth inning the Coyotes plated another run.  Briana Brace scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 4-0.  The sixth inning saw yet another run for the Yotes on a throwing error.   A leadoff triple in the seventh would make way for two more Coyotes' runs, pushing the lead to 7-0.

Nickalya Skinner retired the first 19 hitters she saw from Dickinson State.  Monique Yslas broke up her perfect game in the bottom of the seventh inning with one hit.  Yslas took 3-1 offering down the left field line for a single.  Alex Vargas fouled off four straight pitches, before hitting a 1-2 offering over the center field fence.  The two-run blast cut the deficit to 7-2. 

Skinner allowed just three hits over seven innings.  She struck out seven hitters.  Four different Coyotes drove in runs and seven different players recorded hits.  Two players had a multi-hit game.

Regan Lawrence allowed seven runs on nine hits.  She struck out three.  Yslas broke up Skinner's perfect game with a single in the seventh inning.  Vargas notched a two-run homerun.

The Blue Hawks' 2014 season has come to a close and they will begin preparations for next season.
