BILLINGS, MONT. – Dickinson State played a pair of games Saturday (Apr. 5), one against Great Falls and one against Presentation College. In the opening game the Great Falls Argos got the better of the Blue Hawks, 3-2. During the back half of the doubleheader the Blue Hawks came away victorious against the Presentation Saints. Both games were scheduled to be played in Dickinson, N.D., but were instead played in Billings, Mont. due to weather. Dickinson State is now 16-11 overall and 3-1 in North Star matchups.
The Blue Hawks opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Regan Lawrencelaced a singled to left field and was driven home on a double by Tiffany Morgan, giving Dickinson State a 1-0 lead.
The Argos struck three times in the top of the third inning to gain a 3-2 advantage and the lead by which they would take home the victory.
Lawrence tossed a complete game, allowing just three runs on four hits. She struck out six hitters. Rebecca Lopez picked up a hit and scored a run. Monique Yslas notched two hits. Alex Vargas had a hit and a run driven in. Morgan had a hit and a RBI.

Presentation opened the scoring in the first inning on a solo shot by Brenda Bozenhart.
Dickinson State would put up five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brianna Grayson tripled to drive home Lopez and even up the score. Vargas laid down a bunt, reached first, and allowed Grayson to score. A passed ball advanced Morgan to third and Lawrence to second. Lindsey Sullivan singled to drive home Morgan. Justeena Gutierrez then singled, which scored Lawrence. Lopez then reached on an error to score Sullivan and give the Blue Hawks a 5-1 lead.
The Blue Hawks' bats went to work in the second inning. Morgan singled home Grayson for the first run of the inning. Lawrence reached on a bunt single and scored Vargas. Following a pass ball, Sullivan singled and drove in Morgan. Gutierrez then singled home Lawrence, raising Dickinson State's lead to 9-1.
In the third inning Vargas doubled home Yslas and Morgan singled to score Vargas, raising the lead to 11-1.
Presentation struck again in the fourth inning. A seven run inning propped up by a Hailey Haukeli grand slam brought the score to 11-8.
The Blue Hawks scored once more in the bottom half of the inning when Yslas singled to left field, which drove in Samantha Bessey.
The Saints would add one more run, but it would not be near enough to overcome the deficit. Dickinson State held on for a 12-9 victory.
Lopez, Yslas, Grayson, Gutierrez, and McKenzie Kenobbie each drove in a run. Vargas, Morgan, and Sullivan all drove in a pair. Vargas also scored three runs.
The Blue Hawks will be back on the field on Sunday (Mar. 6) for two more North Star games against Great Falls and Presentation. Both games will be played in Billings, Mont.
