Game Two

In the final game the Blue Hawks took on Puget Sound University. Unlike many of the Blue Hawks games this week, Puget Sound took the early lead and the Blue Hawks had to play from behind the first 3 innings. After Puget Sound scored in the first inning the Blue Hawks held them scoreless for the next 6 innings.

Alex Watson got the start but was replaced by Regan Lawrence in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Lawrence pitched the remainder of the game and got the win to move her record to 6-2. The Blue Hawks finished the game with 10 runs on 11 hits. Despite the 5 errors committed by the Blue Hawk defense the Hawks were able to capitalize on Puget Sound 2 errors.

The heart of the Blue Hawks order produced 6 of the 9 runs, 2 apiece from Alex Vargas, Janell LaRont and Claudia Torres. Morgan Glowa also had 2 RBI’s and McKenzie Kenobbie had 1.

Coach Fleury’s Reaction:

“Playing 14 games on the road in 10 days is tough. It takes a lot out of a team and truly test’s you as a team. I am very happy with the way the team played the past 14 games. We played some very tough teams and competed in every single game. As a team we did a lot of things right and we did some things wrong. We put up some tremendous offensive numbers and our pitchers gave us a chance in every single game. Defensively I think we need to do a better job behind our pitchers to eliminate unearned runs. We need to learn from our mistakes and take the next few days to rest and refocus so we can continue to prepare of our conference season.”
