DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Softball team split a NSAA double-header with the University of Jamestown on Thursday. DSU won the first game 1-0 and lost the second 4-3.
Game 1: DSU 1, UJ 0
Dickinson State tallied eight hits in the game and were led by Alex Vargas who was 2-3. McKenzie Kenobbie added a double while Yslas, Grayson, McKenna Kostelecky, McKenzie Bassett and Morgan Glowa all recorded singles in the win.
Alexzandria Watson earned the win going seven innings allowing no runs on three hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
Game 2: UJ 4, DSU 3
The Blue Hawks got on the board early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Unfortunately, these would be the only runs DSU would score in the game. The Jimmies plated two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 4-3 win.
Bassett led the Blue Hawk hitters going 2-3 with two RBI's while Vargas was also 2-3 with a run scored. Kenobbie added a hit and a run scored while Grayson also added a hit and a run scored. Glowa was the only other Blue Hawk hitter to record a hit in the loss.
Abigail Brooks took the loss going five innings allowing four runs on nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Watson came in to throw two innings allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
Dickinson State is now 35-10 overall and 16-2 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks return to the field on Saturday and Sunday in La Crosse, WI when they finish their 2016 regular season with NSAA games against Waldorf and Viterbo.
Dickinson State will play Waldorf at 2:00 PM (MDT) and Viterbo at 4:00 PM (MDT) on Saturday. Sunday's schedule is Viterbo at 11:00 AM (MDT) followed by Waldorf at 1:00 PM (MDT).
