REDDING, CA- The Dickinson State University Softball team escaped elimination in game one on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Eastern Oregon before being eliminated with a 5-0 loss to Oregon Tech.
Game 1: DSU 3, EOU 2
The Blue Hawks eliminated Eastern Oregon in a loser out game with a 3-2 win. DSU plated one run in the second inning but EOU answered with a run in the bottom. The Blue Hawks would score two runs in the top of the fourth while EOU scored one in the bottom. This was enough for the Blue Hawks to take the game.
Alexzandria Watson earned the win going seven innings allowing two runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Blue Hawks were led by Alex Vargas going 2-3 with a double and two RBI's. Shannen Donnelly was 2-4 with a run scored while Samantha Hardwick was a perfect 2-2 with a run scored and an RBI. McKenzie Kenobbie added a hit and a run scored. McKenna Kostelecky and Whitney Mesi each added hits in the win.
Game 2: OIT 5, DSU 0
Oregon Tech plated the only runs of the game when they scored five runs in the third inning.
Abigail Brooks took the loss going 2.2 innings allowing five runs on six hits with a walk. Amanda Flores tossed 2.2 innings in relief allowing no runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout. Watson threw the last 1.2 innings allowing no runs on no hits with two strikeouts.
With the loss, the Blue Hawks end their season with an overall record of 46-12. The 46 wins this season breaks the single season record for wins in DSU softball history set by the 2015 Blue Hawks.
