Blue Hawks and Warriors split NSAA games

ABERDEEN, SD- The Dickinson State University Softball team split a double header with Waldorf University on Sunday. The Warriors won game one 7-5 and the Blue Hawks won game two 12-3.

Game 1: WU 7, DSU 5

Waldorf took the lead in the first inning after scoring one run while the Blue Hawks took the lead after two innings with two runs. WU then scored a run in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth before DSU plated a run in the fifth. Waldorf then answered with a run in the top of the sixth while DSU added two in the bottom of the sixth but Waldorf held on to win 7-5.

The Blue Hawks finished with five runs on nine hits with an error while Waldorf finished with seven runs on 10 hits.

Brianna Grayson and McKennzie Bassett each had two hits including a double while Bassett also had a homerun and 3 RBI's. Mariah Gamboa also recorded two hits. Hanna Andrysiak finished with a triple while Kelsey Craig and Rachael Dillon each had a hit in the loss.

Jalen Creech took the loss going seven innings allowing seven runs on 10 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Game 2: DSU 12, WU 3

Dickinson State scored three runs in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh innings while Waldorf scored three runs in the sixth as the Blue Hawks took game two by a score of 12-3.

The Blue Hawks finished with 12 runs on 17 hits with an error while Waldorf finished with three runs on four hits.

McKenzie Kenobbie led the Blue Hawks going 3-3 with a double and three runs scored. Andrysiak added three hits with two runs scored and two RBI's while Grayson finished with three hits, a double and an RBI.

Gamboa finished with two hits and three RBI's, McKenna Kostelecky had two hits, a triple and two runs scored, Kayla Stephens added two hits, a triple and two RBI's. Dillon had a double and three RBI's and Craig finished with a hit in the win.

Abigail Brooks tossed a complete game allowing three runs (2 earned) on four hits with two walks and a strikeout for the win.
