ABERDEEN, SD- The Dickinson State University Softball team defeated the Presentation College Saints in three of four games last weekend.
GM 1: DSU 4 PC 3
DSU jumped out to a 4-3 lead after 3 innings and then used great pitching and defense to hold Presentation College scoreless to close out the victory in game 1 of the weekend series.
Rachael Dillon led the Blue Hawks going 2-4 on the day with a homerun and 3 RBI. Brianna Grayson went 2-3 while McKenzie Kenobbie, Mariah Gamboa, Hanna Andrysiak, Andrea Rodriguez, Kayla Stephens, Abigail Brooks and McKenzie Basset all added hits.
Abigail Brooks picked up the complete game victory going 7 innings allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 7 hits while walking no one and striking out 5.
The final line score for the Blue Hawks showed 4 runs on 11 hits with 2 errors. The Saints scored 3 runs on 6 hits and committed 2 errors.
GM 2: DSU 3 PC 2
Dickinson State would carry a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 7th innings, and held on to win 3-2 to take game 2 over the Presentation College Saints.
McKenzie Kenobbie lead the Blue Hawks at the plate going 3-3 on the day. Brianna Grayson went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, while Rachael Dillon, Mariah Gamboa, McKenzie Basset, and Hanna Andrysiak all added one hit apiece.
Jalen Creech picked up the win for the Blue Hawks going 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. She walked 2 and struck out 6. Abigail Brooks came in to get the final two outs, slamming the door and earning the save.
DSU scored 3 runs on 10 hits and committed 0 errors. PC scored 2 runs on 8 hits and committed 0 errors.
GM 3: DSU 5 PC 1 (16 innings)
Over 2 full games worth of innings were played during game 3 on Sunday, and the Blue Hawks finally pushed 4 runs across in the top of the 16th inning to give them the 5-1 victory over host Presentation College.
Andrea Rodriguez led the Blue Hawks offense, coming in as a substitute, finishing 3-5 with a double. McKenzie Kenobbie was 3-7 and Hanna Andrysiak went 2-6 with a homerun. Rachael Dillon, McKenzie Bassett, and Kayla Stephens all added one hit as well for the Blue Hawks.
Abigail Brooks pitched an unbelievable game going all 16 innings while allowing 1 run (0 ER) on 12 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5 to earn the win.
DSU scored 5 runs on 11 hits and committed 3 defensive errors. PC scored 1 run on 12 hits and committed 3 errors.
GM 4: PC 3 DSU 2
DSU would jump out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Saints would respond with 3 unanswered runs to take game 4 of the series 3-2.
Jalen Creech picked up the tough-luck complete game loss going 6 innings and allowing 3 runs (0 ER) on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 7.
DSU scored 2 runs on 6 hits and committed 3 errors. PC scored 3 runs on 6 hits and committed 1 error.
DSU is now 19-21 (14-8 NSAA) on the year.
