Dickinson, ND-Dickinson State University's outfielder Rachael Dillon received All-American accolades for her performance on the softball field this year. Dillon played and started all 51 games this season for the Blue Hawks.
As a senior, Dillon led her team in almost every statistical category. She posted an overall batting average of 43% while adding 11 homeruns, 72 hits and 43 RBI's. Dillon also had a very impressive performance in the outfield with 58 catches during the season.
Dillon led the Blue Hawks to a 32-21 overall record for the 2018-19 season. After defeating the University of Jamestown for the North Star Conference Championship, the Blue Hawks continued on to the National Championship in Fayette, MO. In the opening round of the national tournament the Blue Hawks loss to Hope International 5-1 and Central Methodist 5-1 to end their run for the national title.
"I am incredibly proud of Rachael. She has been a leader on and off the field for us her entire career at DSU. Her offensive and defensive mentality is exactly what any coach would want. She is an outstanding athlete and is very deserving of this award. We are very pleased with her performance and will miss her on the field next year," stated Coach Kristen Fleury.
