DICKINSON, N.D. – Senior Mariah Duran, sophomore TaRicka Linzy, and junior Ja'Lisa Gatlineach tallied double digit points as the Blue Hawks rolled to an 84-63 victory over Rocky Mountain College on Saturday (Jan. 18).
Dickinson State led by eight points early in the first half, but that lead would disintegrate. Seven minutes in the Battlin' Bears took the lead and held it for nearly ten minutes before the Blue Hawks took control. Sophomore Jalyn Klauzer drove into the paint and picked up two to give Dickinson State a 39-37 lead and they would not look back.
At the half the Blue Hawks led by five, but would stretch the lead to 17 on a two point shot from Bygate with nine minutes in regulation. Rocky Mountain could not find their stride offensively in the second half, shooting just 35.6% from the floor. Linzy added 19 points in the second half alone for Dickinson, while senior Dawne Degel tacked on 12 rebounds.
Brittany Kumm finished with 20 points for the Battlin' Bears, a team high, while Taylor Kufeld finished with 12. Rocky Mountain finished with 35 rebounds, 13 assists, a 35.6 shooting percentage, and 21 turnovers.
Linzy led the Blue Hawks with 19 points, senior Mariah Duran finished with 16 points, and Gatlin finished with 12. Degel led Dickinson State with 12 rebounds. The Blue Hawks finished with 52 rebounds, 16 assists, three blocks, 11 steals, and a 40.5 shooting percentage.
Dickinson State will be back on the court on January 25th when they play Montana Tech at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
