Blue Hawks fall to Northern, 65-42

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks traveled to Montana State-Northern on Thursday (Feb. 20) for a Frontier Conference game as the season winds to a close.  The Lights got the better of Dickinson State 65-42.  The Blue Hawks are now 14-15 on the season and 4-10 in conference matchups.

Natalee Faupel led the scoring for the Lights with 18 points, while A'Jha Edwards registered 13.  Edwards led Northern with nine rebounds.  Taylor Cummings picked up a team high six assists.  The Skylights finished with 16 assists, 43 rebounds, nine steals, 11 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 39.2.

Senior Jess Bygate led the Blue Hawks with nine points.  Junior Keshawnee Alley tallied eight, while senior Dawne Degel and sophomore Jalyn Klauzer recorded four.  SophomoreTaRicka Linzy registered a team high six rebounds, but hot on her heels was junior Ja'Lisa Gatlinwith five.  Gatlin also knocked in six points.  Senior Mariah Duran led Dickinson State with three assists.  The Blue Hawks finished with 31 rebounds, eight steals, and a shooting percentage of 30.8.

Dickinson State's season finale is scheduled for Friday (Feb. 21) when they play Carroll College on the road.  The Blue Hawks recorded a win in their last outing against the Saints, 59-49.  A win against Carroll would bring the Blue Hawks back to .500.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MST.
