Women's Basketball Announces Recruiting Class

The women's basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of eleven newcomers.  The class brings a mixture of junior college and high school experience.  "We are extremely pleased with this recruiting class, it is one of the deepest classes I have ever been associatied with.  We feel as though we have great balance and have a addressed our needs."  The recruiting class adds to a strong group of returning players including Jess BygateMariah DuranDawne Degel andJalyn Klauzer.


TaRicka Linzy

TaRicka Linzy comes to DSU as a 5'7 sophomore.  Linzy was the 2013 NJCAA Division III National Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading Rock Valley College to the National Championship.  Coach Harrison stated, "TaRicka gives us a strong point guard who has a great understanding of the game."  This past year she averaged 11.5 points, 2.1 assists, 2 steals per game.  Linzy played high school basketball at Trinity High School in Chicago, Illinois.


Keshawnee Alley

Keshawnee Alley has been part of two Rock Valley College NJCAA Division III National Champion teams in 2012 and 2013.  She is a 5'9 guard and will be a junior for the Blue Hawks.  This past year she averaged 13.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.  "Keshawnee has the ability to keep the ball alive in rebounding situations, we are looking forward to her making our team better", said Coach Caleb Harrison.  Alley was named Player of the Year in the North Central Community College Conference this past year.  Keshawnee played at John Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois.


Keana Magalei

Keana Magalei will be a junior standing 5'4 for the Blue Hawks this year.  Keana comes from Highline Community College where she averaged 13.73 points, 6.85 rebounds and 2.73 assists per game.  Coach Harrison said, "Keana brings us an explosive guard who will help us play the game at tempo."  In 2013 Magalei was selected on the NWAACC Western Region All Star 2nd Team.  Magalei played at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington.


Hannah Beede

Hannah Beede will be a 5'10 freshman forward for DSU coming from Brisbane, Australia.  She represented the New Zealand U18 National team where she averaged 15.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.  Coach Caleb Harrison said, "Hannah is a versatile player who can play on the inside and outside."  Beede attended St. Peter's Lutheran College in Brisbane, Australia.


Ja'Lisa Gatlin

Ja'Lisa Gatlin comes to DSU as a 5'11 junior from Chaffey College.  Ja'Lisa played forward this past year and averaged 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.  Coach Caleb Harrisonstated, "Ja'Lisa is a versatile front player who is a great passer."  Gatlin played her high school basketball at Summit in Fontana, California.


Johnikka Nash

Nash is a 5'7 Junior guard from Illinois Valley Community College  During her time at Illinois Valley she averaged 15.4 points, 3 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.  "Johnikka brings us speed at the guard position and has experience to contribute."  Johnikka is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School.

Porsha Wadsworth

Porsha Wadsworth is a 5'10 Junior from Central Wyoming Community College.   Porsha averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds this past year.  "Porsha brings toughness to our squad."  Wadsworth attended Rock Springs High School in Rock Springs, WY.

JaiDah Richardson

JaiDah Richardson is a 5'9 forward from Eastern Wyoming College.  She will be a junior for the Blue Hawks this year.  This past year she averaged 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2 steals per game.  "JaiDah will help us with being able to defend multiple positions this year", stated CoachCaleb Harrison.  JaiDah played at East High School in Denver, CO.


Ashley Kennedy

Ashley Kennedy comes to DSU as a 5'8 junior from Northeastern Junior College.  Kennedy is a forward who averaged 10.4 points and 9 rebounds per game last year.  "Ashley can impact the game every possession", said Coach Caleb Harrison.  Ashley went to Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado.


Alyssa Hildebrand

Alyssa Hildebrand is a 5'6 freshman guard from Powell, Wyoming.  Alyssa was named Senior Athlete of the Year in 2013 and was the most valuable member of the girls basketball team.  She was also selected to play in the Wyoming Coaches Association All Star Game.  "Alyssa does the little things to help a team be successful", stated Coach Caleb Harrison.  Alyssa attended Powell High School.


Rachael McDonough

Rachael McDonough is a 5'4 freshman guard from Melbourne, Australia.  Rachael played for the very highly regarded Nunawading Spectres based in Melbourne.  She averaged 15 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds this past year.   Coach Caleb Harrison said, "Rachael is a true point guard who will improve the pace we play at."  Rachael attended the International School of the Sacred Heart in Melbourne, Australia.
