Blue Hawks Rout Lady Bravehearts, 99-52

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks picked up their second win of the season on Monday (Dec. 8) over Oglala Lakota College, 99-52.  Dickinson State is now 2-7 on the season.

The Blue Hawks jumped out to an early 13-2 lead and did not look back.  Paitton Herbst scored the first seven points for Dickinson State.  The Lady Bravehearts found the scoreboard for the first time with 16:28 to play in the half.  Marissa Around Him converted on two free throws for Oglala's first points.

With 11 minutes remaining in the first half, Dickinson State hit three shots from beyond the arc to pull away, 26-12. 

At the half, the Blue Hawks had connected for a 54-26 lead. The Blue Hawks shot over 63 percent from the field in the first half.

Frances Around Him led the Lady Bravehearts with 18 points, while Alyssa Looks Twice finished with 16.  The Lady Bravehearts finished with 25 rebounds, three assists, five steals, one block, and a shooting percentage of 32.7.

Herbst finished with 21 points and nine rebounds.  Rachael McDonough came off the bench and tallied 15 points. Ashley Bentz and Alyssa Hildebrand each recorded 12 points.  Herbst, Megan Klein, and Jalyn Klauzer each recorded nine rebounds.  Dickinson State finished with 62 rebounds ( 32 offensive, 30 defensive), 17 assists, 13 steals, five blocks, and a shooting percentage of 44.8.

Dickinson State will be back in action on Saturday (Dec. 13) in Scott Gym, as they host Brandon University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
