HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Blue Hawks took on No. 4 St. Xavier on Friday (Dec. 19) in the Hoop N Surf Classic. St. Xavier came away with an 81-55 victory.
Dickinson State got off to a slow start in the first half, but was able to rally back for 41 points in the second.
"We played well in the second half, but we need to learn to come out from the opening tip and not dig ourselves such a deep hole," head coach Mark Graupe said.
In the second half, the Blue Hawks played No. 4 St. Xavier to a one point differential 42-41.
Kara Krolicki led St. Xavier with 17 points. Suzie Broski scored 14. Caitlin McMahon finished with a team high 11 rebounds. St. Xavier finished with 53 rebounds, 23 assists, 14 steals, four blocks, 12 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 39.3.
Lorna Shepherd led the Blue Hawks with 18 points. Rachael McDonough tallied 11. Shepherd recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds. Paitton Herbst finished with 10 rebounds. The Blue Hawks finished with 53 rebounds, 21 of which were offensive, to match No. 4 St. Xavier. Dickinson State also had six assists, five steals, and three blocks.
Dickinson State will be back in action on Sunday (Dec. 21) against Menlo College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. (HST).
