DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks routed Briercrest College on Friday (Jan. 9), 97-45. Dickinson State is now 4-11 on the season. Five Blue Hawks posted 10 or more points.
The Blue Hawks posted an 11-0 lead before the Clippers were able to get on the board with a free throw. Dickinson State then extended their lead to 40-8. At the half, the Blue Hawks led 45-17.
The Clippers were able to open the second half on a 6-0 run, but their offense would not last. Dickinson State shot 51.2 percent from the floor in the second half to post a 52-point lead and a 97-45 victory.
Marisa Hartman led Briercrest with 12 points. Tracy Frimpong recorded nine points, all in the second half from three-pointers. Abby Klassen finished with 10 rebounds. The Clippers finished with 41 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, 29 turnovers, and a shooting percentage of 25.4.
The Blue Hawks were led by Ashley Bentz, who recorded 18 points. Alyssa Hildebrand recorded 14 points and eight rebounds. Paitton Herbst notched 12 points. Hailee Farstveet and Lorna Shepherd both recorded 10 points. Jalyn Klauzer led the Blue Hawks with nine rebounds. Hildebrand also recorded three steals. Every Blue Hawk player recorded at least two points and one rebound. Dickinson State finished with 50 rebounds, 14 assists, three blocks, and a shooting percentage of 44.8.
Dickinson State will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 10) against Briercrest. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
