DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated Montana Tech 63-54 Sunday afternoon in Scott Gymnasium.
Both the Blue Hawks and the Orediggers struggled from the field with Dickinson State shooting 32 percent from the field, 14 percent from three and 70 percent from the free throw line while Montana Tech shot 24 percent from the field, 18 percent from three and 79 percent from the free throw line.
Montana Tech took a 28-24 lead into halftime but the Blue Hawks came out and held the Orediggers to only five points in the third quarter while the Blue Hawks put up 18.
Megan Klein led the way for the Blue Hawks with 16 points and 14 rebounds while Leslie Beaudoin and Lorna Shepherd each added 12 points in the victory over former Frontier Conference rival the Orediggers.
Montana Tech was led by Hattie Thatcher with 14 points while Sammy McGree and Shayla Mack each added 13 points for the Orediggers in the loss to the Blue Hawks.
The Blue Hawks finished the game with 58 rebounds, 15 assists, 19 turnovers, five blocks and eight steals while the Orediggers had 47 rebounds, 6 assists, 15 turnovers, four blocks and 11 steals.
Dickinson State is now 5-1 overall and 0-0 in NSAA play. The Blue Hawks travel to Minot State on Tuesday for an exhibition game with the Beavers.
