DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team received their second loss of the season Saturday night to MSU-Northern, the second time this season the Lights have defeated the Blue Hawks.
In their first match up at MSU-Northern, the Blue Hawks were defeated by two points on a last second shot. Saturday night's game was just as close, with the Lights beating the Blue Hawks by three points, 61-58.
In the first quarter, the Lights put up 17 points to the Blue Hawks 12 and increased the lead by one after outscoring the Blue Hawks 15-14 in the second quarter, taking a 32- 26 lead into halftime.
The Blue Hawks shot 40 percent from the field and 14 percent from three in the first half while the Lights shot 44 percent from the field and 56 percent from three.
Dickinson State came out of halftime on fire outscoring the Lights 20-10 in the third quarter but the Lights came back and outscored the Blue Hawks 19-12 in the final quarter.
The Blue Hawks finished the game shooting 42 percent from the field, 15 percent from three and were a perfect 7-7 at the free throw line while the Lights shot 39 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 86 percent from the free throw line.
Dickinson State is now 6-2 overall and 0-0 NSAA. The Blue Hawks return to the court on Friday, Dec. 4th as they host Johnson & Wales at 5:30 PM (MDT).
