Klein Named NSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

MADISON, S.D. – Megan Klein of Dickinson State (N.D.) was chosen to this week's North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Basketball Conference Player-of-the-Week, the eighth edition of the weekly honor was announced Monday by the conference office.

Megan Klein – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'1" – Junior – Center – Killdeer, N.D. – Klein helped No. 21 Dickinson State (N.D.) to a pair of victories in the Johnson & Wales (Colo.) Classic after averaging 14.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in the tournament.  She opened up the tournament by scoring 11 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in 90-64 victory over host-team Johnson & Wales.  Klein followed up with a double-double of 17 points and collected 17 rebounds in 75-65 win over Northern New Mexico.  She also had two assists, two blocks and two steals in the game.  Klein shot 61.9 percent from the field (13-of-21) in the tournament.

Six North Star Athletic Association teams are undefeated in conference play this season with Mayville State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) tied with a 3-0 conference record.  Jamestown (N.D.), Dakota State (S.D.) and Presentation (S.D.) hold a 2-0 conference record.  Dickinson State (N.D.) is 1-0 in NSAA conference play.  Five NSAA teams reached double-digit victories this season.

No. 13 Jamestown continued their home stand with a dominating victory over Ashford (Iowa) by the score of 72-46 on Jan. 4.  The Jimmies raised their overall record to 16-4.

Mayville State won their fourth and fifth straight games last week, defeating Clarke (Iowa) 78-55 on Jan. 4.  The Comets added another 76-71 NSAA conference victory at Waldorf (Iowa) on Jan. 9.  MSU is 11-5 overall record.

Viterbo (Wis.) kicked off their 2016 season with a 54-29 loss at Southeastern (Fla.).  The V-Hawks dropped their overall record to 2-13 and remained at 1-6 NSAA conference record.

Dakota State returned back to NSAA conference play on Jan. 6, pulling away for a 64-56 victory over Waldorf.  The Lady T's fell to their long-time rival No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Jan. 9 by the score of 90-78.  DaSU is 10-7 overall record.  WC lost 11 straight games, falling to 1-15 overall record and winless in eight NSAA conference games this season.

Presentation returned back to action for the first time since Dec. 19 on Jan. 7, losing at Clarke (Iowa) 69-43.  The Saints couldn't come up with a victory on Jan. 8 as they lost at Mount Mercy (Iowa) 83-64.  PC is 5-7 overall record.

No. 21 Dickinson State won a pair of games in the Johnson & Wales (Colo.) Classic, defeating host-team Johnson & Wales on Jan. 8 by the score of 90-64.  The Blue Hawks added another 75-65 victory over Northern New Mexico on Jan. 9.  DiSU extended their winning streak to three games and lifted their overall record to 13-4.

Valley City State also played in the Johnson & Wales Classic, falling short to Northern New Mexico 64-56 on Jan. 8.  The Vikings bounced back in the winning column on Jan. 9 after cruising to a 100-70 victory over Johnson & Wales.  VCSU is 10-6 overall record.

Looking Ahead This Week
No. 21 Dickinson State (N.D.) travels to Viterbo (Wis.) Monday (tonight) for a North Star Athletic Association conference contest in La Crosse, Wis.

Dakota State (S.D.) and Waldorf (Iowa) will meet for the second NSAA conference meeting on Tuesday evening in Forest City, Iowa.  On the same night, Presentation (S.D.) heads up to Ellendale, N.D. to take on Trinity Bible, N.D. in a non-conference game.

Mayville State (N.D.) hosts Trinity Bible on Wednesday evening.

On Friday, Presentation returns home and welcomes Waldorf in the North Star conference play in Aberdeen, S.D. 

Viterbo remains at home on Saturday as they host Judson (Ill.).

On Sunday, Dakota State travels to Sioux City, Iowa to take on the NAIA Division II defending national champion of Morningside (Iowa).

Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) won't return back to action on Jan. 20 as they play each other in Jamestown, N.D.
