MAYVILLE, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Mayville State University Comets in overtime by a score of 82-76 on Wednesday night to stay undefeated in the NSAA.
The Blue Hawks started very slow in the first half only shooting 23 percent from the field and 29 percent from three while the Comets shot 32 percent from the field and 15 percent from three.
With both teams shooting poorly, the Blue Hawks took a 24-23 lead into halftime.
In the second half, both team shot much better. Dickinson State shot 51 percent from the field and 31 percent from three in the second half while the COmets shot 38 percent from the field and 25 percent from three.
Dickinson State had five players finish the game in double digit scoring. Lorna Shepherd recorded a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Megan Klein also recorded a double double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field, 30 percent from three and 77 percent from the line with 53 rebounds, 15 assists, 16 turnovers, three blocks and four steals.
Mayville State finished the game shooting 38 percent from the field, 25 percent from three and 58 percent from the line with 43 rebounds, 14 assists, 15 turnovers, one block and four steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 15-4 overall and 3-0 in the NSAA.
Dickinson State returns home on Saturday, January 23rd when they host NSAA rival Dakota State University. Game time is set for 4:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
