DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Dakota State University Trojans on Saturday night in Scott Gymnasium, 78-63.
Dickinson State used 43 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from three in the first half to take a 36-35 lead into half time while Dakota State shot 41 percent from the field and 27 percent from three in the first half.
In the second half, the Blue Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 29 percent from three to earn the victory over the Trojans. Dakota State shot 36 percent from the field and 22 percent from three in the second half.
Megan Klein led the Blue Hawks with another double double, scoring 16 points with 16 rebounds. Taylor Henningsgard scored 14, Janniqua Thomas added 11 points with 10 rebounds and Lorna Shepherd finished with 10 points.
The Trojans were led by Courtney Hulstein with 14 points while BreeAna Olson added 13 and Sharee Galbraith finished with 10 points.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 44 percent from the field, 35 percent from three and 69 percent from the line with 49 rebounds, 19 assists, 17 turnovers, one block and five steals.
Dakota State finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field, 25 percent from three and 89 percent from the line with 28 rebounds, 12 assists, 14 turnovers, four blocks and 11 steals.
The Blue Hawks are now 16-4 overall and 4-0 in NSAA while the Trojans drop to 12-9 overall and 4-1 in NSAA play.
Dickinson State now travels to the University of Jamestown on Wednesday, January 27th when they square off with the Jimmies in a NSAA match up before returning home on Saturday, January 30th as they host Valley City State in a NSAA game in Scott Gym at 4:00 PM (MDT).
