Megan Klein Named NSAA Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week

MADISON, S.D. – Megan Klein of Dickinson State (N.D.) was tabbed to the tenth edition of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

Megan Klein – Dickinson State (N.D.) – 6'1" – Junior – Center – Killdeer, N.D. – Klein posted a pair of double-doubles in propelling 20th-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) to a pair of North Star Athletic Association conference victories.  She scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 82-76 overtime victory over Mayville State (N.D.).  She also had three blocked shots in the game.  Klein followed up with another double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds after pulling away past Dakota State (S.D.) 78-63.  For the week, she averaged 14.0 points and 15.0 rebounds per game.  She was 11-of-22 from the field (50 percent) and 6-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Presentation (S.D.) kicked off the week with an 81-70 road loss at the University of Minnesota-Morris on Jan. 18. 

Dakota State (S.D.) returned back to the NSAA conference action with an 84-73 road victory at Presentation on Jan. 20.  In other NSAA conference action, No. 20 Dickinson State (N.D.) rallied back and defeated Mayville State (N.D.) – receiving votes in the latest national poll – by the score of 82-76 in Mayville, N.D.  No. 12 Jamestown (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) met in Jamestown, N.D., where the Jimmies came on top of the Vikings 83-65. 

On Jan. 23, Dickinson State handed Dakota State its' first conference loss of the season in Dickinson, N.D. by the score of 78-63.  The Blue Hawks won their sixth straight game and improved their overall record to 16-4 and 4-0 NSAA.  The Lady T's are 12-9 overall record and 4-1 NSAA conference record.

VCSU bounced back in the winning column on Jan. 23 with a 78-53 road victory at Presentation.  The Vikings are 11-7 overall record and 4-1 NSAA record.  The Saints fell to 6-11 overall record and 3-2 NSAA.

Waldorf (Iowa) fell to Grace (Neb.) in a non-conference game 83-58 on Jan. 23.  The Warriors are 1-18 overall record (0-10 NSAA conference record).

Viterbo (Wis.) dropped a non-conference contest versus Clarke (Iowa) 78-43 on Jan. 20.  The V-Hawks could not come up with a victory at Mount Mercy (Iowa) on Jan. 23 as they fell to 2-17 overall record (1-7 NSAA).

Jamestown remained undefeated in NSAA conference play with a 93-66 home victory over Mayville State.  The Jimmies won their fourth straight game to lift their overall record to 18-4 and 4-0 NSAA conference record.  The Comets are 12-7 overall record and 3-2 NSAA record.

Looking Ahead This Week
Waldorf (Iowa) returns home Monday (tonight) as they host Clarke (Iowa) in a non-conference game.

Viterbo (Wis.) heads to New Ulm, Minn. to take on Martin Luther (Minn.) on Tuesday evening.

The NSAA conference schedule action continues on Wednesday evening with three games scheduled.  No. 20 Dickinson State (N.D.) and No. 12 Jamestown (N.D.) battle for the sole possession of first-place in the NSAA conference standings in Jamestown, N.D.  On the same night, Dakota State concludes their six-game road stretch with a contest at Valley City State (N.D.), while Presentation (S.D.) visits Mayville State (N.D.).

The V-Hawks will play a pair of games in the Indiana University Northwest Classic this weekend, facing Rochester (Minn.) on Friday and host-team No. 24 Indiana Northwest on Saturday.

Waldorf continues their non-conference schedule with a game at Ashford (Iowa) on Saturday.

No. 12 Jamestown plays at Presentation for NSAA conference game on Saturday, while Dakota State returns home versus Mayville State.  In addition, Valley City State travels to No. 20 Dickinson State.
