DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Valley City State University Vikings 63-55 on Saturday night in Scott Gymnasium.
The Blue Hawks found themselves down 13-7 after the first quarter but rallied back in the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead into halftime.
Dickinson State shot 26 percent from the field and 0-12 from three in the first half while the Vikings shot 30 percent from the field and 15 percent from three in the first half.
In the third quarter, the Blue Hawks outscored the Vikings 25-18 and the Vikings then outscored the Blue Hawks 16-15 in the fourth quarter but the Blue Hawks held on for the NSAA win.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 34 percent from the field, 12 percent from three and 85 percent from the line with 51 rebounds, 15 assists, 13 turnovers, five blocks and seven steals.
Valley City State finished the game shooting 32 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and 69 percent from the line with 41 rebounds, seven assists, 16 turnovers, two blocks and five steals.
Georgia Williams led the Vikings with 15 points while Sara Schwanke added 12 and Lexi Lennon finished with 10 points.
Dickinson State is now 17-5 overall and 5-1 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks travel to Presentation College on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to host Mayville State University at 4:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
