Blue Hawks #20 in Latest 2016 Women’s Division II Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team dropped on spot in the latest 2016 Women's Division II Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll after finishing 1-1 last week.

The Blue Hawks fell to the University of Jamestown, currently #8, 81-71 on Wednesday but turned around to defeat Valley City State on Saturday, 63-55.

This week the Blue Hawks travel to Presentation College on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to host Mayville State University at 6:00 PM (MDT).

Top 25 highlights (historical information dated back to 1991):
• Saint Xavier (Ill.) remains at the top receiving all 12 first-place votes and 312 total points. The Cougars extended its 11-0 home streak Jan. 27 against Trinity International (Ill.), 98-79. Saint Xavier holds the No. 1 ranking in blocks per game (6.5) and total blocks (155).
• In the NAIA Network Game of the Week, presented by Stretch Internet, No. 3 Marian (Ind.) used a 20-5 fourth quarter run to extend its winning streak to 13 games in a 71-56 victory over then-No. 25 Huntington (Ind.).
• No. 12 Concordia (Neb.) falls five spots after losing to unranked Doane (Neb.), 91-55.
• No. 13 Purdue Calumet (Ind.) jumps five spots this week. The Peregrine's are 19-5 overall and travel to No. 6 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Feb. 3.
• Huntington (Ind.) is the only team who dropped out of the Top 25 poll this week.
• Newcomers No. 24 St. Ambrose (Iowa), No. 25 Bryan (Tenn.) and No. 25 Oregon Tech make the poll this week. Bryan has not seen a Top 25 ranking since Dec. 10, 2013 and St. Ambrose since, Jan. 6 of last season.
• Six teams have 20-plus wins on its season. Saint Xavier has the most with 23.
• The top five has been the same for the last two weeks.
• The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference leads the league with six teams representing: Saint Xavier, No. 5 Saint Francis (Ill.), Olivet Nazarene, Purdue Calumet, No. 16 Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and St. Ambrose.
• No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan (14-2) has the most No. 1 rankings in NAIA history with 34. No. 2 Morningside is second with 27.
• Morningside holds the active streak of being ranked in the Top 25 (121). No. 4 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) streak of 114-straight is second.
• College of the Ozarks (2007-08), Morningside (2008-09) and No. 5 Saint Francis (Ind.) (1999-00) are the only teams to go the entire season ranked No. 1.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
