DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Mayville State University Comets, 70-65, Saturday night at Scott Gymnasium in the NAIA D2 Women's Basketball Game of the Week.
The Blue Hawks and the Comets were tied at 10 after the first quarter but the Blue Hawks went on to outscore the Comets 25-14 in the second quarter to take a 35-24 lead into halftime.
Dickinson State shot 46 percent from the field and 36 percent from three in the first half while Mayville State shot 38 percent from the field and 20 percent from three.
The Comets came out of halftime on fire, outscoring the Blue Hawks 22-15 in the third quarter but the Blue Hawks then outscored the Comets 20-19 in the fourth quarter, earning a 70-65 NSAA victory.
Joelle Ertl led the Comets with 18 points while Liza Hoglo added 13, Andi Gayner had 11 and Karleigh Weber finished with 10 points.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 43 percent from the field, 32 percent from three and 57 percent from the line with 39 rebounds, 22 assists, 12 turnovers, eight blocks and three steals.
Mayville State finished the game shooting 40 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and 80 percent from the line with 38 rebounds, 10 assists, 14 turnovers, two blocks and one steal.
The Blue Hawks are now 19-5 overall and 7-1 in the NSAA while the Comets fall to 14-9 overall and 5-4 in NSAA play.
Dickinson State returns to the court on February 10th as they travel to Valley City State University.
