VALLEY CITY, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team was defeated by the Valley City State University Vikings, 75-65, on Wednesday night.
The Blue Hawks and the Vikings were knotted up at 19 points after the first quarter but the Vikings then outscored the Blue Hawks 23-8 in the second quarter to take a 42-27 lead into halftime.
Dickinson State shot 39 percent from the field and 25 percent from three in the first half while Valley City shot 52 percent from the field and 46 percent from three.
The Vikings came out of halftime to outscore the Blue Hawks 19-18 in the third quarter while the Blue Hawks outscored the Vikings 20-14 in the fourth quarter but the Vikings help on to a 75-65 NSAA victory.
The Blue Hawks finished the game shooting 42 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 59 percent from the line with 28 rebounds, 11 assists, nine turnovers, three blocks and three steals.
Valley City State finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 55 percent from the line with 37 rebounds, 21 assists, six turnovers, three blocks and four steals.
Sara Schwanke led the Vikings with 18 points while Courtney Dixon and Mackenzie Huber added 15 points each.
With the loss, Dickinson State drops to 19-6 overall and 7-2 in the NSAA.
The Blue Hawks return home on Saturday to host the University of Jamestown Jimmies at 4:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium.
