MADISON, SD- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team defeated the Dakota State University Trojans on Saturday night, 87-63, to close out the 2016 regular season.
The Blue Hawks outscored the Trojans in every quarter of the game leading to a 87-63 victory.
In the first quarter, the Blue Hawks put up 17 points to the Trojans 14 then 24 in the second quarter to the Trojans 13, taking a 43- 27 lead into halftime.
Dickinson State then put up 23 points in the third quarter to the Trojans 21 and then the Blue Hawks scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to the Trojans 15.
The Blue Hawks held their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter of 28 points with 1:48 remaining in the game.
Madison Walford and Courtney Hulstein added 14 points each for the Trojans while Kennedy Wagner finished with 10 points in the loss to the Blue Hawks.
Dickinson State finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 83 percent from the line with 45 rebounds, 20 assists, 12 turnovers, five blocks and seven steals.
Dakota State finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field, 22 percent from three and 65 percent from the line with 30 rebounds, 17 assists, 11 turnovers, four blocks and eight steals.
The Blue Hawks finish the regular season with an overall record of 21-7 and 9-3 in the NSAA.
Dakota State finishes their regular season with an overall record of 14-15 and 6-7 in NSAA play.
Dickinson State will host Viterbo University at 7:00 PM (MDT) on Wednesday, February 24th in Scott Gymnasium in the first round of the NSAA Tournament.
