Blue Hawk WBB climbs back into 2016-17 Women's Division II Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team has climbed back into the No. 24th spot in the 2016-17 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday. The third regular-season installment will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The Blue Hawks are coming off back to back NSAA wins over Mayville State University on Dec. 3rd with a 78-77 overtime win then followed that up with a 68-54 win over Bellevue University of Dec. 9th.

Dickinson State is currently 5-3 overall and 2-1 in NSAA play. The Blue Hawks continue NSAA play on Wednesday, Dec. 14th when they host Dakota State University at 5:30 PM (MDT). DSU will then host Oglalla Lakota College on Friday, December 16th at 5:00 PM (MDT) in a non-conference game.

Poll Methodology
• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
