Blue Hawks win a thriller over RMC

BILLINGS, MT- The Dickinson State University Women's Basketball team beat the Rocky Mountain College Bears on Friday night with a go ahead basket by Ashley Bentz- Laub with four seconds remaining to win 65-64.

The Bears outscored the Blue Hawks 21-18 in the first quarter followed by 12-7 in the second quarter to take a 33-25 lead into halftime over the Blue Hawks.

RMC shot 48 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 50 percent from the line in the first half while the Blue Hawks shot 30 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and 71 percent from the line.

The Blue Hawks were outscored 23-16 in the third quarter but had a huge comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bears 24-8 to win the non-conference game over RMC 65-64.

Dickinson State finished the game shooting 42 percent from the field, 27 percent from three and 62 percent from the line while RMC shot 41 percent from the field, 26 percent from three and 71 percent from the line.

Taylor Henningsgard led the Blue Hawks with 25 points while Megan Klein added 20 points and 13 rebounds. Lorna Shepherd recorded five assists in the Blue Hawk victory.

Jayde LeFevre led the Bears with 14 points. The Bears had four players with double digit scoring.

The Blue Hawks are now 8-5 overall and 3-1 in NSAA play. Dickinson State continues NSAA play Jan. 6th and 7th at Waldorf University and Viterbo University.
