Blue Hawks fight back for NSAA win over Vikings

VALLEY CITY, ND -  The Dickinson State University Women's basketball team defeated Valley City College on Monday night by a score of 68-64. In the game there were 10 ties and 16 lead changes.

The Lady Blue Hawks outscored the Vikings in the first quarter 16-14 and in the second quarter it was 14-14 ending the half with a score of 30-28. Dickinson State then was outscored by Valley in the third 24-16 but the Blue Hawks outscored the Vikings 22-12 in the fourth quarter for a final score of 68-64.

Total shooting for Lady Blue Hawks was 47 percent from the field, 42 percent from three and 87 percent from the free throw line.

Valley City College shot 41 percent from the field, 30 percent from three and 100 percent from the line.

The Lady Blue Hawks were led by Megan Klein with 21, Taylor Henningsgard with 17 and Lorna Shepherd finished with 13. Klein hauled in 13 rebounds while Henningsgard had game high 4 assists.

Lexi Lennon led Valley with 20 points followed by Georgia Williams with 16.

Dickinson State finished the game with 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 20 turnovers and 5 steals while Valley finished with 22 rebounds, 9 assists 11 turnovers and 8 steals.

The Blue Hawks are now 14-5 overall and 7-1 NSAA.

The next game for the Lady Blue Hawks is against Valley City on January 20th at 5:30 PM (MDT) in Scott gym.
