Blue Hawks take down Trojans in NSAA Quarterfinals game

DICKINSON, ND- The Dickinson State University Women's basketball team defeated Dakota State University on Wednesday night by a score of 59-45 in the NSAA Quarterfinals game.

The Lady Blue Hawks were outscored by Lady Trojans in the first quarter 14-11 but in the second quarter it was 13-6 for the Lady Blue Hawks ending the half with a score of 24-20. Dickinson State then outscored Lady Trojans in the third 25-19 and 15-6 in the fourth quarter for a final score of 59-45.

Total shooting for Lady Blue Hawks was 35 percent from the field, 5 percent from three and 76 percent from the free throw line.

Dakota State shot 32 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and 77 percent from the line.

The Lady Blue Hawks were led by Megan Klein with 21 and Ashley Bentz- Laub with 9. Klein hauled in 16 rebounds while Taylor Henningsgard had game high 5 assists.

Breann Olson led Trojans with 10 points followed by Britley Cutz with 8.

Dickinson State finished the game with 49 rebounds, 7 assists, 10 turnovers and 3 steals while the Trojans had 37 rebounds, 7 assists, 17 turnovers and 5 steals.

The Blue Hawks are now 23-6 overall.

The Lady Blue Hawks move on to host Valley City State University on February 24th at 7:00 PM (MDT) in Scott Gymnasium in the NSAA Women's Basketball Semifinals game.
