Dickinson, ND – Dickinson State University women's basketball coach Liz Lewis is pleased to announce the signing of Celeste Medina to an NAIA National Letter of Intent for the Blue Hawks. Medina is a 5-foot-8 Junior College Transfer from Nampa, ID.
During her high school career, Celeste played for the Middleton High School Vikings where she averaged 8.1 points per game and 4.8 assists. Medina led the Vikings to two consecutive District Championships and one State Championship. Her team also set a record of longest winning streak held by a high school basketball team with 72 consecutive wins. Medina was a first-team All-Conference selection and was selected as a Southern Idaho Conference all-star where she was chosen to compete in the elite North vs. South All Star Games.
Celeste will be transferring from Treasure Valley Community College. While at TVCC, Medina was a member of Second Team All-East Region and was selected for the NWACC Sophomore Showcase. She was also the MVP of the Crossover Tournament. Celeste averaged 7.3 points per game, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists while playing for the Lady Chuckars.
"Celeste is a solid point guard who can score as well as set her teammates up for success. She has developed into an exceptional passer. Celeste is a competitor and will add a great deal of experience to the Blue Hawks, "said Coach Lewis.
Medina will pursue a degree in Exercise Science while attending DSU. "I chose to attend Dickinson State University because I believe the University has a great background in my degree I will be pursuing while I attend Dickinson State, as well as an amazing coaching staff that wants to invest in me not only as a basketball player, but as a student as well."
