DICKINSON, ND- The Blue Hawks Women's Basketball team took on Salish Kootenai College Friday afternoon. The game is the second part of a non-conference back-to-back. Thursday night fell to Rocky Mountain College.
The Blue Hawks struggled early against the SKC Bison. The Bison jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead over the Blue Hawks, thanks to a pair of threes and stout defense. The Blue Hawks finally got on the board and began chipping away at the lead. Following the tough start, the Blue Hawk defense was able to force fifteen turnovers from the Bison. The Blue Hawks were also able to take advantage of the Bison's aggressive play. The Blue Hawks took fourteen free throws in the half, converting on twelve. The Blue Hawks were able to stay disciplined on the other end of the court, the Bison only took two shots from the line, making one. That proved to be the difference for the Blue Hawks in the half and they took a 41-32 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Bison responded and started hot in the third quarter. The Bison began the half with a 13-3 run, cutting the Blue Hawks lead to just one. But, with the help of a seven quick points from Isidora Tosavic the Blue Hawks went on a 11-2 run to retake control of the lead. The Blue Hawks were able to hold their distance from the Bison and extend their lead for the remainder of the game, finishing things off with a 96-69 win.
A Look Ahead: The Blue Hawks next game will be next Thursday when they head north to take on Minot State in an exhibition game. The teams next game in Scott Gymnasium will be November 27th when they take on the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions.
