DICKINSON, N.D. – Viterbo University (Wisc.) took the long trip to Dickinson to take on the Blue Hawks in basketball Friday night. Viterbo takes on the Blue Hawks for their second NSAA matchup, losing to Bellevue last weekend. For the Blue Hawks the game comes as their third, losing to Valley City and Waldorf in the previous weekend.
Viterbo took an advantage in the first quarter. The V-Hawks' aggressive play put their team in the bonus early in the period. It also gave Blue Hawks Isidora Tosavic and Lacey Waid each two fouls early in the game.
The V-Hawks shined on the offensive end of the court in the first half, shooting 51% from the field. The V-Hawks had two individuals, Madison Doerr and Ambree Schlosser, get into double digits by half. On the other end, the Blue Hawks were stymied by Viterbo's defense. As a team, the Blue Hawks only shot 24%. The teams went into the half with the V-Hawks leading 44-20.
The Blue Hawks' woes shooting the ball continued into the second half, only shooting 33%. The Blue Hawks were able to slow down the attack from Viterbo. The V-Haws were only able to shoot 36%. Despite the strong second half defense the Blue Hawks were unable to catch up to Viterbo, losing 77-47.
The V-Hawks had five players reach double digits, led by Ambree Schlosser with 18. Jennifer Burnham led the Blue Hawks with 15.
