Dickinson, ND – Dickinson State University women's basketball coach Liz Lewis is pleased to announce the signing of Western Nebraska transfer Sophie Agorakis. The 5-foot-11 forward is originally from Melbourne, Australia. Sophie spent the last two years studying and playing basketball for Western Nebraska CC.
Agorakis was a pivotal member of an extremely successful Western Nebraska team these past two years. During her tenure at WNCC, Agorakis led her team to an overall record of 57-10 and two back-to-back NJCAA National Tournament appearances. Sophie scored 5 points per contest on 45% from the field and pulled down four rebounds per game for the Cougars.
"Sophie is a very skilled athlete. She will bring a competitive and hardworking attitude to the Blue Hawks. She is strong, can finish around the basket, and has a great knack for the rebound. She will bring an incredible amount of toughness, heart and pride to the Blue Hawks this next season," said Coach Lewis.
Agorakis also excels in the classroom and is a member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa honors society. She will pursue a degree in Exercise Science while attending DSU. "I love the community; the passion and care this college does for their students. There is pride and I can't wait to be a part of it."
