Janie Rayback enters her first year as the Assistant Coach for Dickinson State University. Prior to DSU, Rayback served as an assistant with current Blue Hawk head coach Liz Lewis at Miles Community College.
Rayback is a 2005 graduate of Star Valley High School (WY) where she was a three sport standout athlete lettering in track, volleyball and basketball. Rayback led her basketball team to three state tournament appearances resulting in two second place finishes and one third place finish. Rayback was a two-time All-State basketball selection and a member of the Montana-Wyoming and Wyoming-South Dakota All-Star teams. Rayback also led her volleyball team to three state championships and was awarded All-Conference and All-State honors her junior and senior seasons. She also graduated Salutatorian of her 2005 graduating class.
She began her playing career at Weber State University (UT), where she spent three seasons. She was named team captain during her junior season and still holds the Weber State record for the highest single-game field goal percentage where she went 100% from the field on shooing 9 for 9. Rayback was also a two time Big Sky Conference All-Academic team honoree. As a senior Rayback transferred to Rocky Mountain College where she earned First Team All-Frontier Conference honors and was named an NAIA All-American. Rayback was also voted Frontier Conference Newcomer of the Year, and was recipient of the Rocky Mountain Coach’s Award.
Rayback graduated with honors from Rocky Mountain College in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health, Exercise Science. Upon graduation Rayback played professionally in Brazil for two seasons. Rayback holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a Sports Psychology emphasis from California University of Pennsylvania. Rayback also holds a specialist certification with the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE).
