Jamestown (N.D.) wins 2018 NSAA Women's Golf Conference Tournament

FINAL RESULTS:  Individual/Team

WAVERLY, Iowa - Jamestown (N.D.) never looked back as they captured the 2017-18 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Golf Conference Tournament Tuesday at Prairie Links Golf Course (par-72, 5,822-yards).  The Jimmies earned the NSAA's automatic bid to the NAIA Women's Golf National Tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on May 22-25.

After opening up with the lead in the fall qualifier in North Dakota last September, UJ seized their lead throughout the tournament.  The Jimmies finished the tournament with a total of 1,310 strokes, 33 strokes better than second-place Bellevue (Neb.) (1,343 strokes).  The Bruins moved into second-place in the final round, while Viterbo (Wis.) fell to third place with 1,351 strokes.  Waldorf (Iowa) was fourth with 1.429 strokes followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) fifth with 1,468 strokes and Valley City State (N.D.) sixth with 1,656 strokes.

UJ's Annie Nelson dominated the North Star conference tournament after four-round score of 305 (71-78-77-79).  Danielle Ducklow was second with 323 (90-79-80-78).  Savana Nesemeier of Jamestown and Faustina Peve of Bellevue finished in a two-way tie for third with 327 strokes. 

Nelson was named to the North Star Women's Golf Player-of-the-Year award.  Vince Drahman of UJ was chosen as the North Star Women's Golf Coach-of-the-Year.

ROUND THREE RESULTS:  Individual/Team

WAVERLY, Iowa - Jamestown (N.D.) continues its dominance after the third round of North Star Athletic Association Women's Golf Conference Tournament held at Prairie Links Golf Course (par-72, 5,822 yards) Monday.  The Jimmies widen their lead by 29 strokes over second-place Viterbo (Wis.).

Jamestown, who fired the team-best third round score of 314 Monday, records a team score of 986 strokes.  Viterb is second with a team score of 1015 strokes.  Two-time North Star defending champion Bellevue (Neb.) is third with 1,017 strokes.  Waldorf (Iowa) is fourth with 1,087 strokes, Dickinson State (N.D.) fifth with 1,114 strokes and Valley City State (N.D.) sixth with 1,256 strokes.

Annie Nelson was the top individual finisher in the third round, carding a round of 77 (5-over-par).  She maintained a 17-strroke lead (226 strokes - 10-over-par) over second-place Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo (243 strokes - 27-over-par).  Bailey Schmidt of VU is third after three rounds (245 strokes - 29-over-par).

The final round of the NSAA Women's Golf Conference Tournament is slated for Tuesday at 9 a.m.

ROUND TWO RESULTS:  Individual - Team

MEDORA, N.D. - Jamestown (N.D.) maintained their team lead after the second round of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Women's Golf Conference Tournament Tuesday.  The fall women's golf conference tournament was held at Bully Pulpit (par 72, 6000-yard golf course).

The Jimmies finished the first two rounds with a team score of 672 strokes, followed by Viterbo (Wis.) second with 676 strokes.  Bellevue (Neb.), two-time North Star defending champions, is third with 684 strokes.  The Bruins posted the best-second round score of 334 strokes, one stroke better than UJ.  Waldorf (Iowa) is fourth with 723 strokes, followed by Dickinson State (N.D.) fifth with 759 strokes and Valley City State (N.D.) sixth with 843 strokes.

Annie Nelson holds a commanding lead after two rounds for the Jimmies.  She finished with 149 strokes after two rounds (5-over par).  Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo is second with 157 strokes (13-over-par).  Both Nelson and Ducklow finished the second round score of 78.  Faustina Peve of Bellevue is third with 163 strokes (19-over-par), followed by Bailey Schmidt of VU fourth (166 strokes - 22-over-par) and Savanna Nesemeier of Jamestown fifth with 169 strokes (25-over-par).

The final two rounds of the North Star Athletic Association will resume back in April 2018.  Waldorf (Iowa) is scheduled to host the spring golf conference tournament in Albert Lea, Minn.

ROUND ONE RESULTS:  Individual - Team

Annie Nelson propeled Jamestown (N.D.) to a two-stroke team lead after the first round of the North Star Athletic Association Fall Women's Golf Conference Tournament held at Bully Pulpit (par 72, 6000-yard golf course) Monday.  The fall golf tournament is being hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.).

Jamestown completed the first round score of 337, two strokes head of Viterbo (Wis.) with the first round of 339.  Bellevue, two-time North Star defending conference champion, is third with 350 strokes.  Waldorf (Iowa) is fourth with 363 strokes, followed by Dickinson State fifth with 386 strokes and Valley City State (N.D.) sixth with 423 strokes.

UJ's Nelson was the only golfer that went under par, firing a first round score of 71.  Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo is second with 79 (7-over-par), followed by her teammate Bailey Schmidt with a round of 82 (10-over par).  Faustina Peve of Bellevue is fourth with 84.  Nicole Misner of Waldorf and Mattie Mahlum of VU are tied for fifth with 86 (14-over-par).
