JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Dickinson State travelled to Jamestown on Thursday (Jan. 22) for a dual against the Jimmies. The Blue Hawks came away with a decisive 44-4 victory.
"We looked focused and aggressive," Head Coach Thadd O'Donnell said afterward. "We talked about how important bonus points are and we earned them tonight."
Brice Gorsline recorded an 11-5 decision in the 125-pound bout over Stuart Brandt, giving the Blue Hawks a 3-0 lead.
Cade Coles then picked up six points, by recording a fall at 5:37 against Joseph Zapeda in the 133-pound matchup. Dickinson State led 9-0 after two bouts.
Anthony Kifer was able to pick up four points for the Jimmies, and close the deficit to 9-4, with a 10-0 major decision in the 141-pound bout.
Seth Ehlang rebounded for Dickinson State with a pin on Justin Folsom at 6:41 in the 149-pound match, putting the Blue Hawks up 15-4.
In the 157-pound bout, Sean Elkins recorded a technical fall over Jevon Schnaubert, 23-5, at the 5:43 mark. The Blue Hawks gained a 20-4 advantage.
Taylor Hodel then picked up four points with a 10-0 major decision over Jacob Paul in the 165-pound bout.
Lane Oversen was victorious over Matthew Hernandez with a 16-0 technical fall.
Meyer Bohn recorded a 4-0 decision over Antonio Lopez in the heavyweight bout to end the dual.
Hudson Buck (197) and Taylor Brown (174) each recorded a victory by forfeit.
Dickinson State will be back in action on Friday (Jan. 23) in Scott Gymnasium for a dual against the University of Regina. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
