DICKINSON, N.D. – The Blue Hawks fell to Conordia-Moorhead on Wednesday (Jan. 28), 21-14. Hudson Buck improved to 18-0 on the season with his victory.
Dickinson State dropped the first three bouts, before Seth Ehlang put them on the board. Ehlang recorded a takedown in the first period against Yonas Gebreab, to take a 2-0 lead. In the second period, Ehlang recorded an escape, a takedown, and was awarded a penalty point. After two periods he led 6-0. Ehlang recoded a takedown and acquired a bonus point for riding time to seal the bout, 9-0.
Sean Elkins followed with a win of his own over Ben Cousins. Elkins notched two takedowns in the first, while Cousins managed only an escape. With a 4-1 lead, Elkins and Cousins each recorded two points in the second to bring the score to 6-3. Elkins elected to start on the bottom for the third period and quickly earned an escape. He then picked up a takedown, but Cousins was able to escape. It would not be enough for Cousins, as Elkins would take the bout, and add a bonus point for riding time, 10-3.
Buck recorded a 10-2 victory over Danny Pike. Buck opened with a pair of takedowns in the first to take a 4-1 lead. In the third period, after electing bottom, he earned an escape, two takedowns, and riding time.
Meyer Bohn recorded an 11-5 victory over Tyler Hoffman to end the night. Bothn recorded a takedown and three-point near fall in the first. He added an escape in the second, but Hoffman recorded an escape and takedown. After two periods, Bohn led 6-3. In the third Bohn added two takedowns, while Hoffman managed only a pair of escapes. Bohn also earned a bonus point from riding time.
Dickinson State will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 31) at the Grand View Open.
